Medical abortion can be performed in hospitals and in outpatient gynecolocial centers, provided by a gynecologist. The problem is that misoprostol and mifepriston are often not available on the market, so the procedure is not often performed

Country-specific characteristics

  • Women have to give written consent.
  • Abortion is free of charge in state health institutions only for medical reasons concerning the woman or the fœtus . If it is on demand and up till 10th week of gestational age it costs approximately €100-150.
  • Healthcare professionals (HCPs) have the right to conscientiously object.
